Dear Rubyists,
Ikebana Journey is a freshly created software company focused on building great educational and productivity software and IoT devices.
We are now two, searching for our third member, that we plan to develop as the guardian of our Ruby development.
We are recruiting specifically for our first product, a productivity web-application now in beta, which aim is to disrupt its market.
Its environment is RoR for the backend, AngularJS on front, MongoDB as a db, Nginx as a server and everything deployed on Capistrano.
Pre-requisite
Some degree of experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails
We don’t really care about your background, either you come from a trendy university or learned Ruby in your garage.
I just want you to have skills, be available during 40 hours, of your choosing, a week, and ready to communicate a lot.
Additionally, you are not terrible at HTML/CSS/JavaScript and not afraid of the occasional front-end task.
What will you do every day?
- Implement the new features needed for the current Sprint[1]
- Maintain the API and improve it
- Implement frontend changes when needed
- Actively exchange ideas and discuss on Slack[2]
- Fix the things that will break
Interview process
Our interview process is really simple.

I will have a discussion with you in English during which we will talk about you. During this phase, I just want to assess your conversational skills.

Then we will give you a real-life paid assignment taken from our current backlog. We will give you access to everything needed and use your code and your communication skills as the base for our decision. It will be a 10hrs to 15hrs assignment so be prepared. Once again, we will pay you for it, either you being recruited or not.

- You are actually pretty good in JS/HTML/CSS
- You are not afraid by the mention of “Oh, there is CoffeeScript everywhere in this codebase”
